Sweet Valley High Summaries

If you didn't read the Earthquake trilogy yet and don't want to know what happens, don't continue reading the summaries.

WOW!!! Last Wish was very exciting, especially at the end. In this book the twins turn 17 years old, and their birthday is on June 13, which happened to be a Friday. Elizabeth decides to throw Jessica a surprise birthday party, and Jessica decides to throw Elizabeth a surprise birthday party. Of course, it's on the same day and time, and the places where the party is going to take place are on the opposites of town. Their friends find out that they're throwing 2 different parties and they plan to throw them both a surprise birthday party at their house. So the time comes for the party and the twins are surprised that they both planned parties. Then they have an outdoor barbecue and everyone is at their party, which is one of the best that Sweet Valley's ever seen. But don't think the author forgot about Devon, Todd, and Elizabeth. Todd becomes friends with Elizabeth and decide to go to basketball camp during the summer, and Devon is mad at Elizabeth and he gives her a gift that he says represents exactly how he feels about her. It is a gift that a teacher would give to her or someone she doesn't know very well. Elizabeth is angry and was just about to slap Devon when the earthquake hit. Meanwhile, Jessica leaves the party to go with Steven to meet Billie at a grocery store while the earthquake hits. That's where the book ends. I'm just going to say that I'm definitely going to read the next to books "Earthquake" and "Aftershock", because this one was really exciting. It ended with people still at the Wakefield house, Elizabeth and Devon are in the backyard next to each other, along with some other people, Jessica is with Steven in a car, Billie is alone, and oh yeah, Todd is with Lila in the bathroom and the door may be locked. I would give this book ***** (5) stars.

Earthquake was a really sad and exciting book. In it, 2 people die, one of them is a main character, Olivia. It was really sweet how she communicated to Ken that she loved him. Also, Devon shows a side of him that would make Todd fans happy and Devon fans become Todd fans. When Enid was lying in a pool of water with electrical wires around them, Devon wouldn't help Liz when she couldn't move Enid by herself. Anyway, to start at the beginning (read Last Wish's summary first), Olivia was trapped under a refrigerator and has a lot of internal injuries that kill her. Ken stays with her while Winston goes outside the get help, and when Devon wouldn't help, Winston runs to the fire station and get them to come later on in the book. Jessica is with Steven in their new jeep and they are fighting because Jess wants to go home to see Liz, and Steven wants to go see Billie, and they end up going to Billie because she's closer. After they reach Billie, Steven and Billie walk to the movie theater where their parents are and Jessica drives back home. On the way home, she runs into a boy around her age who needs her help because his 12 yr. old sister is stuck in a crack on the street and is trying to hold on because she'll fall. Jessica reaches down to pull her up while the boy holds her ankles, but they are too late because the girl can't hold on any longer and falls in. Jessica feels sad because she couldn't help the girl. Meanwhile, Elizabeth is trying to save Enid on her own when Devon doesn't help and she falls into the oily pool and is almost attacked by a rattlesnake. She escapes, and jumps through some fire to reach Enid. She lifts Enid up and jumps through the fire, and then puts her down because Enid is too heavy. Anyway, Liz and possible Enid end up being electrocuted. While Liz slips through consciousness and unconsciousness, she sees the "face of a handsome stranger". She isn't sure she knows him, so this may be a new character in the series. Todd is with a hysterical Lila in the bathroom, and after a while, a fire starts creeping from the neighbors house to the bathroom window, and Lila gets hysterical. A fireman finally gets them out. This is where the book left off. Also, the twin's parents were ok. I would give this book **** (4) stars.

Aftershock was a very sad book. Jessica is depressed because she blames herself for Alyssa's death. Alyssa was that 12 yr. old that she couldn't help save. She thinks life is full of sadness and is a new person now. At the end of the book, the parents of the girl go to see Jessica at Fowler Crest. The Wakefields were staying there while their house was being rebuilt. Anyway, Alyssa's parents tell Jess it was her fault the girl died, it was the earthquake's. But Alyssa's brother tells Jessica that it was her fault. It turns out that he was just blaming himself, but felt like he had to blame someone else. The boy and Jessica console each and tell the other that it wasn't their fault. So Jessica is a new person, and has a different attitude towards life. Meanwhile, with Elizabeth and Enid, they think Devon was the one to save them but he wasn't. Devon goes along with it pretending to be their savior in front of the reporters. Liz doesn't remember what happened, so she believes him. At Olivia's funeral, she remembers everything and confronts Devon with it. In front of all their friends, Devon was still lying about saving him, but then he told the truth. Everyone doesn't really like him that much anymore, so Devon decided to leave Sweet Valley. Especially since Liz told him she never wanted to speak to him anymore. Ken is feeling guilt about Olivia's death and blames himself for it. Olivia's parents want him to write the eulogy, but he tells them no. After spending time in her studio, he decides to write it. He then stops blaming himself for her death, with some help from her parents. Todd is leaving for basketball camp, so Liz smooths things out with him before he goes. But they agree that there will never be trust between them again. With Lila and Todd, they just went back and forth trying to get their feelings out, and if they didn't they were just mean to each other. At Olivia's funeral, Todd kisses her, but then he realizes that he didn't feel and sparks flying, so he didn't really like Lila, and was just thinking about Liz. So Lila and Todd went back to being mean to each other. I would give this book **** (4) stars.
