SVHSY#7 Boy Meets Girl

Boy Meets Girl was a pretty good book, but in my opinion, not as good as the previous ones in the series. In this book, Jeremy Aames and Jessica go out on some dates. On the first one, he wants to take her to see a Romeo and Juliet play, but Jessica's mom tells Jessica the wrong meeting place by mistake. So they end up going to a kiddie arcade, and they have a pretty good time. The second date is to go to a new comedy club, but when they get there 15 minutes late, they find out anyone under 21 yrs. old isn't allowed in. So they end up going to an ice cream parlor instead, where they run into Will Simmons. In the end of book #6, Melissa tried to commit suicide, after Will broke up with her. So now Will still wants to break up with her, but can't do it yet. Anyway, Jeremy and Jessica's next date is a dinner at the Fowlers' house, where Jessica is staying. At the last minute, Jeremy has to stay home and take care of his father, who just came home from the hospital, because his mom has to go to work. So that date doesn't happen. The last one in the book is at a restaurant. Nothing unexpected comes up, and they both have a good time. Will just broke up with Melissa again, and Melissa punched him, threw stuff at him, and cursed at him. Will decides to go to Jessica's house and apologize for everything he's put her through. he sees Jeremy drop her off, and is a little put off, but continues anyway. He asks her if they could still be friends and Jessica says ok. This is where the book ended with them. While all this was happening, Elizabeth and Connor were caught kissing by Maria. Connor decides to tell Elizabeth that he's going to back off so she can decide things with Maria, but he really did it so that his life can stay calm, because he feels something is going to "bust"-as he says it. Elizabeth keeps trying to talk to Maria and apologize, but every time Maria either avoids her or tells her everything's ok. She also said their friendship can't last anymore. Maria still confides in Ken about what's going on. Near the end, Elizabeth is taking Megan to her mother's country club and they find her drunk. They all get kicked out of the club. When Connor finds them coming home and carrying his mother into the house, he tells Liz she has no right to interfere with his family, and kicks her out of his house. So Liz wanders around for a while until Jessica drives up and gets her. This is where the book ended. Also, Jessica finally told off the cheerleaders who were picking on her and told them that Will never told her he had a girlfrined, and told them if they knew Melissa really well, why couldn't they figure out she was miserable enough to kill herself. I would give this book ***(3) stars.
