#49 Stranded

Stranded was a good book, a little more exciting than No Rules. Jessica was left stranded in a very small town, and hitchhikes with an Elvis impersonator to meet her team. Her team goes back to get her. They waste some time going back. They meet her, but she doesn't go with them. Since she couldn't show up for 1 of the events, where they had to imitate the Pony Express on horseback, her team was disqualified for that event. Liz's team wins, when Liz almost breaks her neck jumping over a high fence, a shortcut. She is not on good terms with Sam, so whatever they say to each other are harsh words. After this event, which was broadcasted on television with Liz as a hero, they drive to Chicago, where they have to sell as many hot dogs as they can. Even though Jessica's team is still disqualified because she isn't there, they still enter for the fun of it. Sam sets Elizabeth up where whoever buys a hot dog, they can get a kiss from her. Tom tells Liz he loves her by going onto the big broadcasting screen at the stadium. He says something like not being the hottest dog, but he still has better buns. And then he pulls down his pants to show his boxer shorts. Liz is very embarrassed, so she runs away from the stadium. She then meets Jessica, and they both want to leave. But they didn't want everyone to think the Wakefield twins were quitters, so they went back in. Neither of their teams ended up winning though, because Team 3 won. The next event is where 2 groups of people from each team have to sing karaoke. At first Jessica doesn't want to do it, but when a girl on her team sang a lot better than she expected, she was going to sing. But when she was just about to say she was going to do it, Neil the guy that was gay, who Jessica still wasn't talking to, sang a funny song he wrote about Jessica leaving the team. It was intended to be funny, but Jessica took it thewrong way and didn't want to sing. But then the Elvis guy comes and she does a duet with him. Her song didn't count in the competition because Elvis wasn't a part of the team, so her team loses. She doesn't talk to her team anymore, because she thoughtthe song was making fun of her. Elvis tells her to be the bigger person, so she goes and says she will forgive the team for leaving her behind. Her team is shocked that they should have to apologize for her getting lost, so everyone hates Jessica. Anyway, Liz's team wins when she sang a duet with another teammate and Sam sung a song. The song is a romantic one, and is talking about Liz. Later, Sam and Liz are kissing outside, when Tom and Todd walk up on them. Elizabeth tries to tell Tom that they already broke up and that he shoulndn't be hurt, but Sam gets mad at her for defending Tom, so he walks off. The girls on the team, Ruby, Liz, and Charlie, find out Charlie is pregnant. That's where the book ends. I would give this book 5 ***** stars.
